Physician Assistant – Amy Saumell, PA-C
Amy possesses a wealth of dermatology medical training and a strong research background. She has been practicing as a dermatology physician assistant with Dr. Crowell for 10 years. She received her undergraduate Bachelor’s of Science Degree from the University of Florida in Gainesville, FL and her Master’s in Medical Science from Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, NC. Amy is fluent in both English and Spanish. She performs annual skin checks, manages and treats dermatologic skin conditions such as acne, eczema, and psoriasis among many other dermatologic conditions. Amy performs procedures such as skin biopsies, cryotherapy, superficial radiation therapy, incision and drainage, and treatment of skin cancers. She also performs cosmetic procedures such as lasers for red and brown spots, broken capillaries, sun damage correction, skin tightening, acne scarring and laser hair removal. She injects neurotoxins such as Botox and Dysport. She also injects dermal fillers.

Yiksiam Marquez Fernandez is a highly skilled and dedicated Nurse Practitioner with more than a decade of experience in the medical field. Originally a Licentiate in Nursing from Cuba, with a solid foundation of more than 10 years in the healthcare sector. After moving to the United States she began pursuing her professional career.
Yiksiam has a diverse professional background, and having worked as a medical assistant for different specialties, and also with Dr. Judith Crowell Dermatology for 8 years which was pivotal in honing their expertise in dermatology and patient care. With her nursing background she took and passed the NCLEX examination, which enabled her to practice nursing stateside. Her nursing career she then transitioned to Palmetto Hospital, where she served as a Registered Nurse in the Telemetry Unit area and Clinical Decision Unit for 2 years, gaining invaluable experience in acute care settings.
Further advancing their career, Yiksiam spent 3 years as a clinical reviewer nurse for Avmed, where they developed a keen eye for detail and an in-depth understanding of clinical processes and patient outcomes. Pursuing higher education, they earned a Master’s degree in Nursing from Ana G. Mendez University, which led to their current role as a Nurse Practitioner.
For the past 2 years, Yiksiam has returned to Dr. Judith Crowell Dermatology as a Nurse Practitioner. In this role, she specializes in assessing, diagnosing, treating, and managing all acute and chronic dermatologic conditions. She is very proficient in performing skin biopsies, skin cancer destruction procedures, and Superficial Radiation Treatments. Additionally, Yiksiam excels in a wide range of cosmetic procedures, including Botulinum Toxin injections, dermal fillers, chemical peels, Morpheus 8, Agnes treatments, Plasma Rich Platelets, Microneedling, and a wide variety of laser treatments.
